When I was a kid we always had two Christmas Trees. One was a “kid” tree and it was hidden upstairs away from where guests would be gathering and one was an “adult” tree which was in the living room. My mother let my brothers and I decorate the kid tree with colorful lights and colorful non-matching ornaments. She absolutely hated it! She decorated the adult tree with white lights and matching monochromatic ornaments. I thought it was completely boring and ugly. She has always loved to decorate with whites and other neutral colors. Over the years I have grown to love the way she decorates and hope someday she will help me decorate my own home.
She currently lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington in a gorgeous beachfront home. I love everything about it! What I love about it is all the white and grays and the simplicity of it. The contrast of the dark hardwood floors with the white bedding and white marble is marvelous! Her home is very elegant and classy. She also almost always has fresh white roses, hydrangeas, and orchids. Those add the most beautiful touch! My favorite flowers are white roses. Something about them is just so beautiful & glamorous.
Another thing I think it great about her home is that not everything was super expensive. There are definitely certain pieces that were a bit pricy but some things she got at cheaper places such as IKEA and Target. It is hard to spot because some of the pieces from the cheaper places actually look expensive. She has a great eye for that!
My favorite thing to do at her house is to cozy up on the couch with a fire going and watch the waves come in and out. And of course snuggle with my dog Bella.
I love you Mom!
