When 8-week old Cowboy came home with Andrew and I, the first thing we did was go to the pet store to get him some food, toys and other supplies. We had both grown up with dogs but we never had the responsibility that comes with owning a dog such as feeding them. I didn’t even know what a healthy option for dog food was.

As we browsed the dog food aisle we were completely lost. Did we want to go the cheap route or the more expensive route? Grain or grain-free? How were we supposed to know if Cowboy was gluten sensitive? We wanted to feed him something healthy and something that he would enjoy.

Nature’s Recipe caught our eyes. We decided to go with the grain-free variety to stay on the safe side. It wasn’t too expensive and is great quality. Nature’s Recipe makes purposeful recipes with ingredients from nature to provide exactly what your dog needs to feel like his most vibrant self, each and every day!

I am a frequent Walmart shopper because it is within walking distance of my home. Walmart just started carrying Nature’s Recipe so I don’t have to make the long journey to a specialty pet store. For the past 35 years Nature’s Recipe has only been sold at pet specialty stores. I always get stressed out when he is low on food because it takes time out of my day to make that extra trip. Now I can just grab some when I am picking up other home necessities at Walmart.

Nature’s Recipe has grain-free options that not a lot of other brands offer. It is also a plus that I can now purchase it at Walmart for a lower cost. Cowboy is still eating the Puppy Grain-Free Chicken Dry Food. Breakfast and dinner are his favorite parts of the day. Each day at 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM he is sitting at his bowl waiting for his favorite food from Nature’s Recipe.

Andrew and I love to hike. It is our ideal date and we wanted to get a breed that would enjoy the mountains just as much as we do. We started hiking with Cowboy when he was very young. I hike about three times a week and watching Cowboy run in the mountains brings me the most joy in life. Seeing him happy makes me happy.

Cowboy gets exercise in the morning, usually at the dog park with his group of other dog friends. In the afternoon I usually have another activity planned that is a hike or a walk in the park. He has helped me get outside more. I work from home and spend most of the day inside.

When I was first training Cowboy to come when I called him, I used the Nature’s Recipe kibble as treats. There were lots and lots of rewards in the beginning and I didn’t want to add in extra calories by giving him different treats. The vet told us he wouldn’t know the difference between treats and kibble. He just wanted something to chow down on.

Cowboy lives his life to the fullest every day. Nature’s Recipe plays a huge role in his life because he gets his protein and energy to fuel his adventures. I sometimes wish I could be Cowboy even for an hour. His day consists of hiking, playing with his friends, eating, napping, and cuddling. Sounds like the perfect day to me! I never realized how much joy a dog could bring to my life.

For future or current dog parents I would totally recommend this brand. Wholesome, convenient, high quality and it will feed their life to the fullest! Learn more about Nature’s Recipe from Walmart here.
